Why book a photographer for your Marseille cruise stop
A cruise day in Marseille is short and, for most passengers, spent in a group. Booking a private photographer flips that: you get a local who knows where the light falls at nine in the morning, which alleys are quiet, and how to get you back to the terminal on time. It is a guided walk through the city and a photo session at once — no coach, no queue, no waiting for twenty other people.
Couples, families and solo travellers book these sessions for milestone trips: an anniversary, a retirement, a first time in Europe. If you are planning a longer stay in the region rather than a stopover, my English-speaking photo sessions in Provence cover the same experience at a slower pace.

From the terminal to the first frame
Ships dock at the Marseille Provence Cruise Terminal in the Joliette district, about ten to fifteen minutes from the Vieux-Port. We always meet directly at the first location — the harbour, the cove or the alley we have chosen — and I share the exact address and directions by email before you sail, so nothing has to be decided on the morning itself.
The session is timed around your all-aboard hour, with a safety margin built in. One hour covers a single neighbourhood beautifully, and we keep the route tight so you are back at the terminal with time to spare.

The route we took through Marseille
Vallon des Auffes
A tiny fishing harbour tucked under a stone bridge, five minutes from the Vieux-Port and still full of working boats. Early light hits the coloured facades and the water is glassy — the best possible opening for a photo walk. The Corniche, just above, is a beautiful spot to pause: open sea, the Frioul islands on the horizon, and nothing but sky behind you.
Malmousque and the alleys of Endoume
The quiet finish: narrow lanes, blue shutters, cactus growing out of the walls and small coves where locals swim. If you want the full map of the city's best backdrops, my guide to the best photo spots in Marseille and my one day in Marseille itinerary go location by location.

Everything handled in English
From the first message to the last frame, the whole session runs in English — including the practical parts that matter on a cruise day: where to meet, how long the taxi takes, what to wear in the Mediterranean heat, and when you need to be back on board. Couples travelling from the United States, the UK, Canada and Australia make up most of my travelling clients, and the sessions are built around how they actually travel.
Local knowledge, every season
I photograph in Marseille all year long, and every season brings a different colour to the city: winter light on Notre-Dame de la Garde, spring mornings in the Calanques, summer evenings in the Vieux-Port, autumn haze over the sea. I know the best spots around the Bonne Mère, the Calanques, the lively Old Port and the quieter seaside neighbourhoods like Malmousque where we shot this session.
That local knowledge lets us move fast, avoid the obvious tourist traps, and make the most of the single hour we have — so you leave with images that feel like Marseille, not a generic cruise stop.

Beyond Marseille — where else I travel
Marseille is home, but a session can follow you inland or along the coast: Aix-en-Provence, Cassis and the Calanques, Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, Avignon, Arles, and further east along the French Riviera towards Nice, Cannes and Saint-Tropez. Travel is quoted with the session.
If you are planning something bigger than a stopover — a wedding in Provence, a surprise proposal or a couple session on the French Riviera — the same approach applies, over a longer route.
FAQ — photo sessions during a Marseille cruise stop
Yes — this is exactly what these sessions are built for. We agree on a meeting point directly at the first location, keep the route tight, and finish well before your all-aboard time. Most cruise-stop sessions last one hour, which leaves plenty of the day free for lunch, the Vieux-Port or the Calanques.

We always meet directly at the first location — the harbour, the cove or the alley we have chosen — and I share the exact address and directions by email before you sail.

Your edited gallery is delivered within five days, so the images usually reach you while you are still travelling. If you need a few previews sooner — to share with family back home — I can send a small selection within 24 to 48 hours.
Yes, the whole experience is handled in English, from the first email to the day itself: route suggestions, meeting logistics, directions and posing. Many of my travelling clients are American, British, Canadian or Australian, and nothing is lost in translation.
Marseille has more than 300 days of sunshine a year, but the mistral wind or a grey morning can change the plan. In that case we adapt the route: sheltered alleys, covered arcades and the old harbour still photograph beautifully. Sessions are only cancelled in case of a real storm, and no fee is kept if that happens.
Yes. Marseille is my home ground, and I regularly travel to Aix-en-Provence, Cassis, the Calanques, Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, Avignon, Arles and the wider French Riviera. Travel outside Marseille is quoted with the session, and I am happy to suggest the best route for the time you have.
