Couple sessions are a beautiful expression of intimacy. Recently, I had the pleasure of participating in a magical photo session for a couple about to get married. I worked on this project assisting Alex Tome.
Alex is an experienced fashion and wedding photographer I had the great opportunity to work with during several months. All photographs are mine, taken as a second photographer.
In this 2mn article, I will go over my experience, talking about that amazing place to discover if you're around Lisbon, the natural light and the equipment I used.
#The place:
Praia de Adraga is nestled close to Lisbon, it provides the perfect canvas for a captivating two-hour photo shoot during the enchanting sunset.
This is a wild beach tucked along the coast near Lisbon, which offers a dreamy landscape of rugged cliffs, golden sands, and the vast Atlantic Ocean. The sun was on its descent, painting the sky with hues of orange and pink, setting the stage for a romantic evening. The natural beauty of the location added a touch of magic.
#Scenic views:
As the sun dipped lower on the horizon, we began the session, allowing the couple to embrace the romance of the hour. The golden light bathed the beach and cliffs,
The couple moved gracefully against the picturesque backdrop, creating a seamless blend of love and nature.

#Equipment:
Praia de Adraga offered a stunning tableau for my lens to capture. As a professional photographer I work with a Sony A7RIII, a full frame camera dedicated to portrait and fashion projects.
I love working with fixed lenses, switching between my 35mm and my 85mm.
I use the 35mm because that focal length provides exactly the same angle of view that we humans have. It stands out as an excellent choice to capture genuine moments of life
My 85mm lens holds also special place in my arsenal due to its unmatched ability to capture close-up details and stunning portrait. In that case, it allows me to capture great moments of love, providing a flattering perspective and beautiful bokeh (ie: blurry background).
The Light:
As a professional photographer, there's a special enchantment that comes with working during the golden hour, especially as the sun sets and transitions into the coveted blue hour. It offers a dynamic range of tones and moods that evolve very quickly, so you have to be quick in your setting and .. ready to shoot !
In that specific scenario, no flash is required, the natural light just works its magic.
Conclusion
I felt privileged to witness that love story and I’m thankful to Alex for his trust during this session. As a photographer it’s always a pleasure to share and learn from the most experienced ones.
I can’t wait to do more projects like this one !
