Marrying at Les Terres de Sarson, in the Drôme Provençale
Les Terres de Sarson stands in Grignan, in the northern part of Provence, on the site of a former 12th-century priory. From its elevated position the estate opens onto olive groves, lavender fields and truffle orchards, with a panoramic view across the region.
For couples travelling from abroad, the practical strength of the venue is that everything happens in one place: gardens, fountains, shaded terraces, a swimming pool, reception areas and on-site accommodation with 114 beds. Guests do not have to drive between locations or back to a hotel at the end of the night, which keeps the day relaxed and the evening long.
The estate also has three reception rooms in addition to its outdoor spaces, so a ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner or party can be moved inside without improvising. Couples are free to choose their own suppliers, and the estate applies no corkage fee.

Getting ready in the estate rooms
Both partners got ready on site, in rooms with generous window light. The pale stone of the priory bounces a soft, even light indoors, which means no flash and no artificial set-up — only quiet, unposed frames while the morning unfolds.

The ceremony and the first moments as newlyweds
The ceremony was held outdoors, in the grounds of the estate, followed by congratulations under the trees. This is the part of the day I photograph most discreetly: long lenses, no interruptions, and full attention on the reactions of family and friends rather than on the staging.

Cocktail hour in the gardens and by the pool
Guests moved freely between the gardens, the shaded terraces and the pool area. For a destination wedding this is often the moment people remember most: families who have flown in from different countries finally meet, and the reportage almost photographs itself.

A short couple session at golden hour
In Provence, the last hour before sunset is the one to protect in your timeline. Twenty minutes away from the party is enough: the light turns warm and directional, the estate's alleys and open views do the rest. We agree on that window before the wedding so it never competes with dinner service.

Dinner, speeches and the party
Dinner was served in the reception area of the estate, followed by speeches and dancing late into the night. With accommodation on site, nobody had to leave early — the celebration ran on its own rhythm rather than on transfer times.

Planning notes for couples coming from the US or the UK
- One venue, no transfers. Ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner, party and accommodation are all on the estate, so the coverage follows the celebration instead of the road.
- A plan for every weather. Three reception rooms mean each key moment has an indoor alternative — we decide those alternatives in advance, not on the day.
- Protect the golden hour. Keeping twenty minutes free before sunset is the single biggest difference between a good and a great couple gallery in Provence.
- Make it a weekend. With 114 beds on site, many couples add a welcome dinner and a brunch; both can be included in the coverage.
- English throughout. Planning, timeline and directions on the day are handled in English, with French for local suppliers and guests.
Frequently asked questions — weddings at Les Terres de Sarson
Where is Les Terres de Sarson and how do guests get there?
The estate sits on the heights of Grignan, in the Drôme Provençale, in the south of France. Most international guests fly into Lyon, Marseille or Nice, then continue by train or hire car. I travel to the venue as part of my coverage.
Do you speak English with couples and their families?
Yes. I am a French photographer working fluently in English, from the first enquiry through to the wedding day itself. On the day I give directions in both languages so that international and French guests follow the same timeline.
What happens if the weather turns on our wedding day?
Les Terres de Sarson has three reception rooms in addition to its outdoor spaces, so the ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner and party can all be held indoors if needed. We plan a light and location option for each key moment in advance.
Can guests stay at the venue?
Yes. The estate offers on-site accommodation with 114 beds, which is why many couples spread their celebration over a weekend rather than a single day. Welcome dinners and brunches can be added to the coverage.
What is your photography style at Les Terres de Sarson?
A blend of documentary and editorial: unposed reportage throughout the day, with a short guided couple session at the best light of the evening. Full galleries are delivered within three weeks.
