Why Get Married on the French Riviera
No other coastline in Europe combines this density of villas, chapels, private estates and reliable weather. From May to October, the Riviera delivers long warm evenings, calm sea, and the kind of golden-hour light that transforms even the simplest ceremony into a cinematic moment. It's the natural choice for couples who want the sea in their photographs.
As a French Riviera wedding photographer, I plan every day around the light rather than the schedule — a ceremony at 5pm, cocktails on a terrace at 7pm, and a short golden-hour portrait session with the Mediterranean behind you. That approach is why my Riviera galleries look so different from a standard wedding report.

The Best Locations for a French Riviera Wedding
Saint-Tropez, Ramatuelle & Le Lavandou
The western Riviera: pine forests, red schist cliffs, and the vineyards of the Presqu'île de Saint-Tropez. Villa and vineyard weddings dominate here, with sunsets that turn the sea a deep amber. See a lifestyle couple session at Plage du Rayol-Canadel for the visual signature of this stretch of coast.
Cannes, Antibes & Cap d'Antibes
Belle Époque villas, palm-lined promenades, and yacht ceremonies. Cap d'Antibes and the Îles de Lérins offer some of the most sought-after wedding venues on the entire Mediterranean. Excellent access via Nice Côte d'Azur airport, twenty minutes away.
Nice, Villefranche-sur-Mer & Cap-Ferrat
The heart of the Riviera. Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild, Villa Kérylos, and the private estates of Cap-Ferrat sit alongside more intimate venues in the old town of Nice. The bay of Villefranche is one of the most photogenic natural harbours in the Mediterranean.
Èze, Monaco & Menton
The eastern Riviera turns dramatic: cliffside villages, hanging gardens, and a light that reflects off both France and Italy. For couples who want their wedding to feel like the closing chapter of a Hitchcock film — this is the stretch of coast.

My Approach — Editorial Photography for the Côte d'Azur
I photograph Riviera weddings the same way a fashion editor would shoot a Mediterranean editorial: clean composition, natural light, and a restrained retouch. During the day I stay documentary — capturing the ceremony, the vin d'honneur, the speeches, and the dance floor as they happen. During the golden hour I take fifteen focused minutes with the couple for editorial portraits against the sea, the cliffs, or the villa gardens.
You can see more of that style in editorial wedding photography in the South of France, or in the broader wedding photographer South of France overview.

Getting Married on the Riviera — Practical Notes
Nice Côte d'Azur (NCE) is France's third-busiest airport, with direct flights from London, New York, Dubai, and every major European hub. Saint-Tropez is a 90-minute drive from Nice; Cannes and Antibes are less than 30 minutes away. Guests staying between Cannes and Menton usually don't need to rent a car — the coastal train is fast and scenic.
For couples who want something quieter after the wedding, I also recommend combining the Riviera with a few days inland — see the Luberon or Gorges du Verdon guides.

Frequently Asked Questions — French Riviera Weddings
How much does a French Riviera wedding photographer cost?
A professional wedding photographer on the French Riviera typically ranges from €2,800 to €6,000 for full-day coverage. Prices on the Côte d'Azur trend slightly higher than in inland Provence because of venue density around Cannes, Antibes, and Saint-Tropez, and because most Riviera weddings involve longer days, sunset ceremonies, and late receptions. Packages include getting ready, ceremony, cocktail hour, reception, and a retouched online gallery.
Which locations do you cover on the Côte d'Azur?
I cover the entire French Riviera: Cannes, Antibes, Cap d'Antibes, Juan-les-Pins, Nice, Villefranche-sur-Mer, Cap-Ferrat, Èze, Monaco, Menton, and westward through Saint-Tropez, Ramatuelle, Le Lavandou, and the Rayol-Canadel coast. Villa weddings, seaside estates, chapels, and yacht ceremonies are all part of my regular work.
When is the best month for a French Riviera wedding?
Mid-May to late June and all of September are the sweet spots: warm sea, long evenings, softer light, and manageable crowds. July and August are peak season — beautiful but hot and busy, with sunset ceremonies strongly recommended. October can still be excellent, especially the first two weeks, when the light turns golden and the coast quiets down.
Do you photograph destination weddings on the Riviera for international couples?
Yes — the majority of my Riviera clients are US, UK, and international couples. I'm fully bilingual (French / English), coordinate directly with your planner and venue, and know how to work around a bilingual ceremony, an international guest list, and the tight timelines that come with weekend destination weddings on the coast.
What makes photography on the French Riviera different?
Two things: the sea and the sun. The Mediterranean gives you an unbroken horizon, turquoise water, and reflected light that flatters skin tones — but it's also a bright, high-contrast environment for most of the day. My work on the Riviera is built around the last two hours before sunset, when the light softens, the sea turns silver, and villa terraces and cliffside chapels look at their absolute best.
